District 17 Newsletter

 

     The district monthly GSR meeting was held Monday, October 26th, 2015 at the Iron Mountain, Mi. Alano Club.  In attendance were: Bruce T., Debbie G., Cliff W., Matt S., Betty S., Jerry P., Don L., , Norm S., John R., Roxie M., Patricia R., Mary C., Bruce L., Pete E., and Linda P. The next meeting is scheduled for November, 30th, 2015 at 6:00pm at the Alano Club.

     I'm respectfully submitting my resignation as our District 17 Treasurer as of December 31, 2015. Anyone interested in this position can contact me or any other District Board member, or you can attend our District meeting on the last Monday of the month at 6:00pm at the Alano Club.

 

     We are self-supporting through our own contributions.

Old business:

·        Bruce T. still looking for suggestions for district workshops.

 

     Old Business report was motioned and accepted.

 

Corrections Report:

·        Debbie reported that all is fine with woman's correction meetings.

·        Woman's schedule is done through December of 2015.

·        Two women have shown interest in volunteering.

·        We are still looking for a co-chair for the men's Correction meetings.

Webmaster Report:

 

·             Have continued being active to keep the district 17 website updated as well as the website at Hostek Web Host site for District 17.  This has been performed in my home office.
    On Saturday, October 24 was at district office in the afternoon for the District 17 work-bee at Alano Club to discover the district office computer shut down for un-exclaimed reason and restarted for the 0900 AA Hotline that had not been answering any calls.  With the help of people from Omega House transferred much of District office from upstairs to a new room downstairs with at present an unsecure doorway.  The office computer, desk and printer remain in operation upstairs in the old secured office.
    On Monday, October 26 was at district office for updates including option #9 (events & info) and to attend monthly GSR meeting at 6 p.m.

     The District 17 Office has 300 meeting cards in drawer.
     The 0900 AA Hotline registered 10 calls the past month with the Hotline not answering calls much of the month.
     The District website recorded 208 hits this past month with the counter at 11,220 total hits.

    Any member of the fellowship with sobriety can become a contact on the option #8 contact listing for a 3-month period.  This listing should periodically be updated, especially for those who are about to take a 3-month turn with their listing on option #8.

     As a regular monthly reminder, must train people (female/male) the operation as coordinator of the 0900 AA Hotline and as webmaster of the district website.  Anyone interested in getting involved with being webmaster or coordinator for 0900 AA Hotline please contact a District 17 committee member, or show up at the monthly GSR district meeting the last Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at District 17 Office at Alano Club Iron Mountain.

New Business:

·       John, GSR of Iron River Let It Go Group will be "on the road" working and an interim GSR is being sought.

·       Work Bee and District office move went ok. Computer is still upstairs and waiting for new door locks and hard wiring. Bruce T. volunteered door carpentry and locks personally. Motion was made and accepted of private donation of time and $.

·       Bruce T. was elected as District 17 DCM for 2 year term.

·       Linda P. was elected as District 17 Secretary for 2 year term.

·       Mary C. is now the New GSR of the Thurs. Women's Meeting.

·       0 nominations for District 17 Treasurer. Tabled until 11-30-15

·       Roxy requested District funds for new Alano tables. Request was declined due to the Alano being a separated entity.

·       Request for intergroup meeting list on GSR News Letter. Accepted by Secretary.

·       Reminder to keep suggesting volunteers, contributions.

 

     New Business was accepted.
