District 17 Newsletter

 

   The district monthly GSR meeting was held Monday, January 30th, 2016 at the Iron Mountain, Mi. Alano Club. In attendance were: Bruce L., Matt S., Bruce T., Larry L., John R., Norm F., Cindy S., Debbie G., Betty S., Jim B., Cliff W., Dave M., and Linda P. (total 13)

The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, February 27th, 2017 at 6:00pm at the Alano Club.

 

DCM Report: Bruce T.

·        The pamphlets are being formatted and proofed via Graphics class.

·        Pamphlet will be green with black font.

·        1000 to be printed.

·        Bruce will be going to the Spring Conference.

DCM report was motioned and accepted.

 

Secretary Report: Linda P.

·        Nothing new to report.

Financial Report: Dave G. (absent)

·        Need a $11.36 Key Reimbursement to Cliff (6 Keys)

Financial Report was motioned and accepted.

 

Corrections Report: Debbie G. & Jim B.  James B. (absent)

·        Debbie G. reported that all is fine with women’s corrections. May have a volunteer if a position becomes available.

·        Corrections need small soft cover Big Books and Daily Reflections.

·        Jim B. reported “All is Good” Meetings have been divided into two ½ hour sessions due to inmate discipline.

·        Men’s correction volunteers are still needed for Iron Mountain and Florence.

WEBMASTER REPORT: Cliff W.

 

     Have continued being active to keep the district 17 website updated as well as the website at Hostek Web Host site for District 17.  This has been performed in my home office.

     On Wednesday, January 4, 2017 reported to district office with further research information of computer analysis and was unable to reduce the over load hard drive as computer has become completely inoperative.  The district office needs another computer.

     On Monday, January 30 reported to district office to update Webmaster Report and attend the monthly GSR meeting at 6:00 p.m.

 

     The District 17 Office has _200_ meeting cards in drawer.
     The 0900 AA Hotline registered ___0____ calls for the second complete month.
     The District website recorded _316_ hits in the past month with the counter at15,787 total hits as of 1-30-17.

 

     Any member of the fellowship with sobriety can become a contact on the option #8 contact listing for a 3-month period.  This listing should periodically be updated, especially for those who are about to take a 3-month turn with their listing on option #8.
     As a regular monthly reminder, must train people (female/male) the operation as coordinator of the 0900 AA Hotline and as webmaster of the district website.  Anyone interested in getting involved with being webmaster or coordinator for 0900 AA Hotline please contact a District 17 committee member, or show up at the monthly GSR district meeting the last Monday of each month at 6 p.m. at District 17 Office at Alano Club Iron Mountain.

     District 17 office computer has crashed and there has been no hotline for two months.

     Bruce T. and Larry L. will look for possible computer donations.

     Cliff brought in coffee donations from New Hope Group for the corrections meetings. Linda P. will bring coffee to the Sheriff’s Department.

     Webmaster Report was motioned and accepted.

 

 

Old Business:

·        6 Office Keys made. Cliff W., Bruce T., Linda P. are in possession and Rick P. (Alano Club Foreman) to receive one soon

·        New AA card being made. Will be Green. 1000 cards to be ordered

·        Power’s Wed. Meeting time change to 7pm

·        Other changes to be updated on new cards.

Old Business was motioned and accepted.

 

 

New Business:

·        Patty R. will be submitting official meeting format with New York for the Monday 10am meeting in Iron Mountain, MI. It was suggested that she wait the official one year before filing.

·        Debbie G. will be updating us on our April 8th Intergroup at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Iron Mountain. She already has a AA and Alanon Speaker and is working on the list of volunteers. An early released flyer was suggested so that guests from out of town have a chance to see the venue change.

·        As it was voted on last year, GSR’s may suggest donating to intergroup at their home groups.

·        Bruce T. will speak to Dave G. in regards to a book order for the Corrections Meetings.

·        Cindy S. asked for an open discussion in regards to a previous vote for the District to purchase extra literature ‘incase groups’ run out. After full discussion Cindy motioned for a recant of said vote. This recant was accepted. District 17 will Not purchase books for group restocking.

·        Bruce L. suggested that we look into having Alkathon meetings on the Holidays for our district.

·        Larry L. mentioned that the Alano Club will be having a “Ski Jump NON Alcohol weekend during the ski jump event. Flyers have been posted.

 

Motion to adjourn and meeting was closed with the Lord’s Prayer.

 

When anyone anywhere reaches out I want the hand of AA always to be there and for that I am responsible.
