District 17 Newsletter

April 24, 2017

        The district monthly GSR meeting was held Monday, April 24th, 2017 at the Iron Mountain, Mi. Alano Club. In attendance were: Bruce T., Arman B., Jim B., Richard A., Dan I., Bruce L., Matt S., John R., Cindy S., Debbie G., Sandy G., Dave M., Linda P., Jim D., Dave G., Patty R., Jerry P. Sally, and Angie F. (total 19)  The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, May 22nd, 2017 at 6:00pm at the Alano Club.

DCM Report:

     Bruce T. will be daily driving to and from the spring conference and is offering rides to anyone who wish to attend. Bruce reported that he feels that meeting seem to be going well in our District. Report on flyers and meeting cards in Old Business. DCM Report was motioned and accepted.

Secretary Report: Linda P.

      Nothing new to report. Secretary Report was motioned and accepted.

Financial Report: Dave G.

      Dave G. submitted Financial Report  See Attached Report. FINANCIAL  There will be two future Visa withdraws for old Hostek bill and New Grasshopper system. The district should receive a reimbursement check from AT&T.  Financial Report was motioned and accepted.

Corrections Report: Debbie G., Jim B.

     Debbie and Jim reported that everything is going well and that Rick A. has graciously volunteered for the Dickinson County Men’s Corrections meetings. Corrections Report was motioned and accepted.

WEBMASTER REPORT: Cliff W.

       Have continued being active to keep the district 17 website updated as well as the website at Hostek Web Host site for District 17. This has been performed in my home office.  At Hostek the annual payment $69.48 was declined because the District debit card had expired on site at Hostek.com. I was able to add new debit card information with expiration 2021 and payment of $76.43 paid including $6.95 late fee.

      The District 17 Office has __50__ meeting cards in drawer. The District website recorded _167_ hits in the past month with the counter at 16,178 total hits as of 4-24-17.

HOT LINE COORDINATOR:


    Dan I. reported; Hotline info from AT&T will transfer to the new Grasshopper system at $17.00 a month. Dan still needs the volunteer hotline names and numbers to finish the transfer. Only our Web site and numbers will be given out at this time. Meeting times are not listed and may be added in the future. There will be no need for a District computer. We will be able to cancel our internet subscription. All Webmaster/Business will be handled via the Webmasters personal computers on the Cloud. (password sensitive) Dan I. was officially announced as Hot Line Coordinator.

Old Business:

      Bruce T. reported and brought in the new AA flyers for distribution. Gloria picked up books needed at the last conference for corrections meetings. Meeting cards are not finished yet and it was a good thing. Sally from Alanon stated that there needed to be updates to the Alanon meetings and contacts. Bruce T. will make new changes before the cards go to print.  Intergroup: Debbie G. Debbie reported a successful District 17 Intergroup Debbie reported generous donations for the intergroup and suggested that we might be able to ask for donations every other year as the Intergroup finances are now high. Please see attached Financial Report. Debbie stated that there are no more Intergroup checks in the checkbook and the Steve S. will get more from the bank. There are only two signers for the Intergroup checking account and one more designated signer may be prudent.  Debbie G. and Sandy G. returned the Intergroup folder to Bruce T. Intergroup Report was motioned and accepted.

New Business:

      The Amasa meeting is no longer running and the Daily news will need to be contacted.  Alanon meetings at the Alano Club are open on: Wednesdays at 7:30 pm and Saturdays at 10:00 am. Rick A. updated that the Intergroup Committee will be setting out donations cans for a new speaker system. Please see the IG GSR Notes for April 2017. GSR’s may also ask their groups if they would like to donate to this much purchase. Bruce L. asked that the District donate Big Books to the Big Book Study Groups and 12 X 12 Groups that are struggling. These books will be used for Study! John R. suggested that the district purchase the Big Books at Conferences to save on shipping. He also suggested that the District donate books only on a case by case basis. Bruce T. motioned to donate four Big Books to the Tuesday Big Book study group with unanimous approval.
 Linda P. announced that her Secretary term was finished. Armand B. nominated Angie as new Sec. Motion for Angie as new District 17 Secretary was unanimously accepted.

     Motion to adjourn and meeting was closed with the Lord’s Prayer.

     When anyone anywhere reaches out I want the hand of AA always to be there and for that I am responsible.  On a personal note: I would just like to thank everyone for a terrific two years of service. I have watched our district grow and become more active and this month’s attendance was just a small indicator of how awesome this program is. Let us rejoice in this wonderful gift of life and sobriety.
