DISTRICT17  AREA74

The February district meeting was held  February 28th at the Iron Mountain VA Hospital. I do not have list of who was there but it was well attended as somehow I led people to believe there was an Intergroup planning meeting also. As it turns out we did hash out a lot about Intergroup.

We opened with the serenity prayer. The Treasury report and the corrections report were given by Cliff W. and Dennis S.
Financial Report

0900 –We voted to buy a computer. The details were discussed at the meeting and it was voted to spend $10.00 for the computer. We will have the computer this coming week if all goes well. Then we need the software to install our phone answering system on it and hook up the telephone. Costs of moving the phone were again discussed as was the location of the office we are proposing will be located. The Alano Club is probably the #1 candidate. We will need to do some work there to make it happen but it could work out great. We are still soliciting cheap office rental space, if you know of some please let us know.

Intergroup – Things are shaping up pretty good. We still need someone to actually chair the kitchen, but we are doing the best we can.  IF you chair or co-chair keep all receipts and check statements. Do not throw out the statements or receipts. You will be asked for a full accounting of all monies spent and received. It would be great to keep all records for the archives for the history of our area.

AA Picnic - A new chair for the annual AA picnic is needed for 2007.  We are looking at a different date, possible earlier in the summer. Any suggestions or comments come to the meetings. The money for the picnic will be handled by the Intergroup Fund Chair and Co-Chair. Same standards apply to the picnic. Keep all receipts and any statements.

Contributions –Our contributions in the Area are up as of last month. Keep the contributions to GSO flowing.

Financial Security –  This is a repeat of our guidelines! The district has set an example of checks and balances as far as the treasury goes. The DCM is now monitoring the District Treasury by internet. We are doing this because we believe that all treasuries should be monitored and statements provided by all treasurers. Do you know how much and where all of your groups contributions are going? If not ask for a full accounting of your treasurer (y) and the funds in it. All monies should be accounted for and promptly deposited if a checking account is used. If cash only then please verify how much your group contributes and collects and verify it by a second person each week if possible. We are only making suggestions not rules. Each group is autonomous and does what it wants as long as it does not affect A.A. as a whole. But, each group is also responsible to see to it that the groups’ contributions are used according to group conscience and not embezzled for personal use!

Women’s Jail Meetings: Some new people have joined in! Thank you for a job well done! Any questions please talk to Dennis S.

New Meetings – I.M., Friday night at 6:00 pm., young peoples meeting, Holy Trinity Episcopal Church.  I.M., Saturday-6PM , Trinity United Methodist Church, basement. Goodman, WI, Thursday, 7PM, New Town Hall.

Meeting Cards – New meeting cards will be printed in March or April. Any changes please get them to Cliff or come to the next district meeting and get them recorded before the cards are printed. This is your once a year chance to get the updates done. Also, we are going to vote at the next District Meeting on putting Alanon back on the cards. If you are concerned be there to vote.
If you need meeting lists: Print them off of the website. These are updated!

Thanks – Thanks to the Iron Mountain VA groups for  providing coffee and donuts for our district meeting, it was much appreciated.

We closed with the Our Father!

Service is about what we can do for others! Please be a service sponsor. Please pick out a member and ask them to help! Keep working on them don’t take no. It is our responsibility. Somehow we must make people start caring about what is happening in AA at the service level. Things are starting to happen in our area in a good way. Please don’t give up on our members, they need to be nurtured until they grow into service. Sometimes it takes awhile.

     In Love and Service,
