District 17  Area74
Greetings’ fellow AA’s, Peace and Serenity to all!
It has been a very busy spring with Intergroup planning and a ton of activity to get the 0900 number operating and new meeting cards to print. This is how our AA service life should be, busy! With a huge number of people involved. Please bring more people in to service. Be a service sponsor! Be an example.

The April district meeting was held  April 25 at the Iron Mountain VAMC , 6:30 p.m.. In attendance were Steve S., Cliff W., Aaron H., Dennis S., Gordy P, Marion H, Jerry, and a visitor from the VA staff (Dr. Silverstein). We opened with the serenity  prayer. The Treasury report and the correction’s report were given by Cliff W. and Dennis S. (both on the following page).  If the GSR from your group is not attending District meetings, you have no say in what happens in your District. Ask your GSR to attend or vote a new one in who will attend. Or send a member of your group to find out what is going on.

0900 – The 0900 hotline is up and running at Cliff’s apartment as voted at the last district meeting. Because of problems with Windows Vista it was decided that the hotline would be operated on Cliff’s computer (with Windows XP) for the next few months to work the bugs out. The 0900 number is updated and AA meetings #1 Mon - #7 Sun are all available as are three contact phone numbers #8, and #9 local information. The cost to move the line from the Dickinson County CC to Cliff’s apartment would be $42.50 and the cost to install the new line at Cliff’s will be around $150-$175. The cost for the phone software (EzVoice 3.2) was $32.50. We voted unanimously to pay all billings involved in getting the 0900 number moved and running. We finally have control over the hotline!

Intergroup –  Was a huge success as we took in just less than $1000.00 combined from the 50/50, dance, pop and donations at the door and food table. We are fully solvent with $1263.55 in the bank for the 2008 intergroup and will not seek donations.  Thank you to everyone who helped and thanks you to all who attended making it a great party for the fellowship.

AA Picnic - A new chair for the annual AA picnic is needed for 2007.  If we’re unable to get a chair there will not be a picnic. Please consider serving your fellowship.

Contributions – The District would like to say thanks for the financial support of all groups contributing. We are trying to do all we are asked to do and more! If your group is not contributing, please consider doing so.

Financial Security –  Please ask your treasurer for a full accounting! This is the group’s job.

Women’s Jail Meetings: We still need another woman to attend the Dickinson County Correctional AA meeting. We are hurting in Iron County for a chairperson. If you have a burning to desire to help people, the jail may be the place.

Meeting Cards – The cards are in! We purchased 1500 cards this year for a total of $178.00, this means we received and extra 500 cards for $23.00 more than the 1000 we bought last year.

Thanks – Thanks to the Wednesday New Hope Group at the VA for hosting the District Meeting and providing coffee and donuts.

      In Love and Service,
