District Newsletter #18 June 1, 2007
Greeting fellow AA’s, Peace and Serenity to all!
Serving others and carrying the message is what service is about. If you
are not growing, or are unhappy in your life, try service! It is guaranteed to
produce results. Please bring people in to service. Be a service sponsor! Be an
example. Become a trusted servant!
The May district meeting was held in Iron River at the Alano Club at 6:15
pm. In attendance were Steve S., Cliff W., Dennis S., Jennifer J., Libby P. and
Joanne B. We opened with the serenity prayer. The Treasury report and the
correction’s report were given by Cliff W. and Dennis S. (both on the following
pages.) If the GSR from your group is not attending District meetings, you have
no say in what happens in your District. Ask your GSR to attend or vote a new
one in who will attend. At least send a member of your group to find out what
is going on.
0900 – The 0900 Hotline is functioning and getting quite a few calls each
day. We still are on schedule with trying to find a permanent home to house the
computer system for hotline and website.
Intergroup & AA picnic funds – It was discussed to deposit the picnic funds
into the Intergroup fund. I am sure this will happen. Discussion on the District
absorbing the funds from Intergroup and the picnic was discussed but tabled so
the groups could be brought more information on the Central Intergroup Office
formation that is in progress. A proposal will be brought to the groups for a
vote shortly.
Central Office – Discussion on the formation of a Central Office was again
discussed and we are close to making a decision on where to locate it. The
office will house the District Computer, 0900, Archives (when we get a chair)
Literature, host district meetings, etc. Updates will be forthcoming shortly.
Now is the time to get into service and help with this historical event.
Elections of Officers and GSR’s – The monthly District meeting in October
will be held for the election of officers and GSR’s .
If you care at all about what is going to happen in AA in the coming years come
and vote. We are going to need a treasurer for sure. Cliff has done a great job
for three terms in a row, one term as secretary and two terms as treasurer. He
will possibly become our webmaster. (He is now!)
AA Picnic - A new chair for the annual AA picnic is needed for 2007. If we
don’t get a chair there will be no picnic. Please consider serving your
fellowship.
Contributions – If your group is not contributing to the District Treasury
please consider doing so.
Financial Security – Please, ask your treasurer for a full accounting! This
is the group’s job.
Women’s Jail Meetings: Please see attached corrections report.
New Meetings – Goodman, WI, Thursday, 7PM, New Town Hall.
Meeting Cards – If you need cards let me or your GSR know.
Thanks – Thanks to the Iron River Alano Club for hosting the District
Meeting and providing coffee and cookies.
In Love and Service,
