DISTRICT17 NEWSLETTER

The District monthly GSR meeting was held on Tuesday, January 29^th at the new District 17 Central Office, located in the old Re-Entry house, 373 Woodward Ave. in Kingsford. Despite the blizzard conditions, we had a great turnout! In attendance were Cliff W., Dennis S., Steve S., Kevin M., Bruce L., Jennifer J., Jerry G., Keith K., Eric A., Jess J., Robert A., & even a few I may have forgotten ... sorry.

Corrections: Dennis has no official corrections report this month, so we’ll figure that No News is Good News. Please note his "Help Wanted" advertisement at the end of this report, though.

Financial: See financial report on the following page provided our District 17 Treasurer, Bruce L.

Please note that this includes $ 90.00 for three months of rent.

District Office: The new district central office is at 373 Woodward Avenue, Kingsford, MI, however, for contributions the mailing address is still District 17, P.O. Box 415, Iron Mountain, MI 49801.

Intergroup: Our first Intergroup meeting was held prior to the district meeting, & the first committees have been formed. Our Intergroup will be held April 12^th, BUT WE STILL DO NOT HAVE A LOCATION. If anyone has ideas on that (or other ideas, in general), please attend our next Intergroup planning meeting on Tuesday, February 12^th @ 6:00 CST Central District Office. You may also contact Jen J. (906)-396-2668 or Angie W. (906)-774-1642. Please print the attached flyer, & bring to any meetings that you attend.

2009 Spring Conference: The established dates for the 2009 Area 74 spring conference are 15^th, 16^th, & 17^th of May 2009. The place is at Pine Mountain Resort in Iron Mountain. We need help from AA's in all of District 17. If you have been waiting for something awesome to volunteer on for service work, this is it. A listing of committees will follow in in the next few weeks. Please get involved. We only have 1 year & 4 months to plan, & lots to do. Any questions, please contact Steve S. (906)-774-8258.

New business: Steve S. asked for re-imbursement of $30.00 for gas money for his trip to Green Bay to attend the Area Committee meeting on January 19^th. This motion was unanimously accepted.

The next new business involved the on-going business of our district 17 computer. After much soul-searching, & although it might still be in keeping with our traditions, Steve decided that he did not feel morally correct about buying our district computer at a greatly reduced price from the church, as previously determined. Bruce made a motion to then buy the computer for Steve with district funds at a cost of $200.00. This was seconded by Jen, & unanimously accepted. The motion was the made by Bruce to also purchase our 0900 software for a cost to the district of ~ $40.00. This was seconded by Dennis & unanimously accepted.

The meeting closed with The Our Father.

The next district meeting will be held Tuesday, February 26^th, 2008 at the new District 17 Central Office, located in the old Re-Entry house, 373 Woodward Ave. in Kingsford
