                                 A.A. Area74 District17 Corrections Report 1/27/09

BRIEF: I spoke with Emily who does the Dickinson County Women’s meeting and she stated that Jamie worked one meeting and ever since Emily has been by herself. It would be great to have a second woman involved with service work as one person can get burned out quickly. Emily purchased one can of coffee while I was out ill. I brought one coffee to the correctional facility my first week back and this past Wednesday (1-21-09), I brought a second can of coffee. This leaves two coffee in reserve.

I will be hitting meetings and approach AA Groups that have committed to donate coffee and literature to the corrections service people. If any Groups want to donate books (Big Books, 12x12, Living Sober, etc.) it all be welcomed. At the Dickinson County correction facility, one box containing literature is shared by both men and women at the weekly meetings. The men out number the women and on commissary day, the literature is removed from the box and brought upstairs to the blocks and never returned. The coffee is also shared by the men and women weekly meetings. The coffee is kept in the facility kitchen and on meeting days (Tues-men & Wed-women) a facility trustee makes coffee. The cups are provided by the facility.

I heard that Larry T. (Area 74 corrections chairperson) has been ill and I wish him a well and speedy recovery.

Respectfully and Gratefully,

Dennis S. District 17 corrections chair
