A.A. Area74, District17 Corrections Report 3-31-09

I had a discussion with Terry M who has been doing service work at the Florence County Correctional meeting for the past few years. He had started with Bob L from the Florence A.A. Group. Terry stated that he is going to give up doing that meeting indefinitely because he has for a long spell been doing it alone and he feels that he is burned out. We both agreed to leave the door open if he should decide to return in the future. If another person would have committed to help in servicing the Florence Correctional meeting, it would have been much easier for all parties involved. With Terry quitting, there will be no longer be a Correctional meeting until someone steps to the plate.

The first week of each month I have brought a can of coffee into the Dickinson County Corrections for both the men and women meetings and I am down to one reserve. It seems that on average, a can lasts for about seven meetings less than one month. Emily P does the women meeting and this month she brought in a can of coffee. She stated to me that she could use a couple of soft covered NA text for the women meeting that are going great. God bless Emily for the way she values her recovery, I’m damn proud of her.

I approached Vikki (treasurer) for the Early Friday Group in Kingsford and she purchased six cans of coffee which the Group conscious voted to do each year. God could construe this as big sister helping little brother. I’m grateful to the Group and big sister.

Jill called me about the Iron County Correction women’s meeting and stated that they could use some Big Books and Living Sober. She further stated that Pam may start servicing when she is finished with school.

Our gracious friend Keith K donated twenty dollars from the Sunday Amasa Group for corrections supplies and this tickles me silly with gratitude for their support.

We will conduct an informal corrections meeting at the April Intergroup in Kingsford.

Respectfully and grateful submitted,

Dennis S
