Corrections Chair Report: Change in men’s meeting for Dickinson County as Bill A. & myself have relieved Terry G. & Kevin J. for the winter until after our Intergroup in April. I will be bringing a can of coffee with me tonight which will leave six on reserve. As every month, volunteers are needed for all correctional meetings except for Dickinson County Men’s meeting. Ever since Keith K. stopped doing the Iron County Men’s meeting, no one has come forward. Both women’s meetings could use more help for relief like our men’s meeting. Keith has hung up his shingle after 40 years of corrections, which to me is an amazingly long period, as the only ones to do things for such a time are Top Brass in the military & a few public servants. He has been our servant with great dedication as he was doing both Camp Ottawa & the Iron County meeting. It has been a pleasure to both know him and to have served our fellowship with him in corrections. For me, him & his wife have been a source of support & inspiration. This being an election month for district positions, I will be stepping down as corrections chair. I have done three terms now & the torch needs to be passed on. I would like to thank the fellowship & those whom have supported me on my journey of recovery. Respectfully submitted, Dennis S.

DCM report: Was unable to attend the Fall Assembly in Three Lakes, WI on Saturday, October 17, an obligation by the District DCM and all GSR’s. Was able to e-mail to the Assembly the final financial report on hosting the Area Spring Conference in May and an updated District DCM report.

At present District 17 has 27 AA Groups conducting 38 AA meetings weekly. There is one group with one weekly meeting in Amasa, Crystal Falls, Florence, WI, Niagara, WI, Kingsford, Randville, Spaulding, Powers, Felch, Carney, two groups & 2 meetings in Norway, two groups with six meetings in Iron River, and thirteen (13) groups conducting 20 weekly meetings in Iron Mountain, including three meetings at the VA by the New Hope Group and six meetings at the Alano Club by the Early Bird AA Group. (On meeting cards put out by District 17 is also one meeting located in Pembine, WI).

There are 14 GSR’s on record in District 17, a DCM, treasurer, secretary, webmaster, AA Hotline coordinator, a correction chair, archive chair, and PI chair.  District 17 holds a monthly meeting the last Tuesday of each month at the District Central Office in Kingsford.  On October 1 a free anti-virus professional v5.0 (AVG) was uploaded onto our office computer that gives protection when on the Internet.  Thanks to Dennis S. For the carpentry work performed in building two wooden stands with shelving that were placed at the north wall giving the central office another new look.

A new page link was added to the District website Central Office Gallery for all members of the fellowship to see what the office looks like inside.  On October 20 was able to attend the 7 p.m. AA meeting at the Alano Club in Iron River where the turnout was great.
