District 17 newsletter con't...            Page 2

District 17 central office & website:  83 hits on website. Still need a microphone (for the messages on the 0900 number), printer, scanner, & speakers for the computer. Dennis brought a computer, printer, scanner, fax, copier, & would only like $50.00. Steve makes a motion to buy it with the stipulation that we make sure the scanner works. Motion was seconded & accepted. Sidebar: Dennis wants to donate the $50.00 to PI.  Joe & Cliff will get together, set it up & try it out.

0900 AA Hotline: 46 hit possibly 25 telemarketers. There were problems with the 0900 number earlier in the month & it looks like it was off for a week. May have something to do with the virus software.  Joe will check that out.

Meeting Cards: Graphics Department is almost done … but not quite. They’ll be green & in cardboard. They’ve also done 1,500 of the Court appointed pamphlets in paper.

Archives Chair: John:   Has filed last months’ minutes & James’ PI information. He’ll also file the financial info from Bruce. Steve asked about Intergroup archives. He has sign-up books & financial statements from the 80s. He’ll get it to John for filing. Thanks, John.

Public Information Committee Chair: James:   Thanks to the committee & thanks to Anne & Joe for putting together a traditions check list. He has twenty copies to give to the GSRs. James went to the Armory & distributed pamphlets about AA & the Armed Services. He also went to a few local churches that have community dinners & left pamphlets. He has a meeting with the probation officer in Crystal Falls & will give them envelopes with the information that he put together. He also dropped off literature, brochures, & a Big Book at Norway High School. He also called Bev Clark from Kingsford. Steve: Questions about printing costs, since James is spending his own money. Are these pamphlets available through GSO? He suggests that James come up with a list of everything he needs & we’ll keep stock piles. John: Maybe the printer & copier will help…Cliff has a key to the office, so James can get a hold of him when he wants to print something. Steve made a motion to reimburse the PI committee for what he’s spent so far. Motion was seconded. Then, Bruce made a motion to give James $50.00 for reimbursement so far. Bruce: We need to watch the religious affiliation (since James had a church fund this.) Dennis would like to make a motion to reimburse the church for the printing. ("We’re self-supporting through our own contributions".) Marion: Watch for cheap paper, ink, etc to stock up. Erika would like to volunteer as a committee member.

New business: The Monday meeting is now at 7:00 PM in Norway at the Alliance Church on Odell Street.

Sandy:  Was told that her women's AA meeting was to be OPEN rather than a closed meeting. What?? John: Got info about the Alano club in Iron Mountain … It is a conflict between the club board & the meetings. He suggests that Sandy go to the next board meeting & talk about her concerns. Bruce: Former board member at the Alano club & it was discussed long ago. The gist of it was that meetings rent space & therefore the board cannot tell the meetings how they’re to be run. Ken: It bothers him that meetings here, whether open or closed, are run the same way … all must introduce themselves at the start of the meeting. Of course all meetings are autonomous. Steve: Let’s have another service workshop.

Elections: No takers for secretary or treasurer, so elections were tabled till next month. GSRs get the word out for elections … WE NEED AN ALTERNATE DCM, DCM, TREASURER, SECRETARY, & ALL COMMITTEE CHAIRS (PI, ARCHIVES, CORRECTIONS)

The meeting closed with The Lord’s Prayer

Respectfully submitted,

Jen J., District secretary
