Corrections Report 6/28/2011

During the past month I have been in touch with James in regards to the Florence meeting now that John is no longer doing it with James. James is trying to continue doing this meeting. Discussion is needed from fellows on this matter.

I also checked on the status of Mark G. for the Dickinson Co. meeting on the 21st only to figure out that his paper work I sent was filed away with a letter regarding Ken W. removal from this position. So things are in the works and thus is the need for such a position, which is more than the wave of a hand and ah of approval!

Discussion

Dennis needs a fifth person to do the jail meetings in the Dickinson Co. jail.

James would like some help with the Florence meetings.

Debbie S. asked if James would be willing to talk to some men one on one to help with the Florence meetings

Gordie P. offered to go to the jail meetings in Florence.

Report was given, motion made and accepted.

Webmaster/Coordinator Report 6/28/2011

On Thursday, June 9 was at district office performing a great training session with Carol H. on all aspects of the district webmaster and 0900 AA Hotline coordinator functions. On Tuesday, June 28 was at district office to record monthly updates, upload & install updates. Discovered a link at the bottom for the APC backup battery. The link is called the APC power chute personal edition. It explains everything about the APC battery backup. The battery backup last intervened on 6-21-11 at 12:05 pm for electrical noise lasting 5 seconds. The computer was not interrupted at all since the last district meeting.

The APC backup battery has a time of estimated 24 minutes. The battery model is Back UPS ES 550 and the serial # 3B0817X30353.

The battery is 3 years old and needs to be replaced.

There’s also a link to the APC backup battery support site.

Met Carol H. And opened the classroom for the monthly district 17 GSR meeting.

The District 17 Office has _350_ meeting cards in drawer. 0900 AA Hotline __65__ hits, including __28___calls w/no option pressed.    The District website __72___hits the past month.

Any member of the fellowship with sobriety can become a contact on the option #8 contact listing for a 3-month period. This listing should periodically be updated, especially for those who are about to take a 3-month turn with their listing on option #8. mail to:  dcm@district17a74.org).

As a regular monthly reminder, must train people (female/male) the operation as coordinator of the 0900 AA Hotline and as webmaster of the district website. Carol H will be taking over for Cliff W and anyone interested in getting involved with being webmaster or coordinator for 0900 AA Hotline please contact a District 17 committee member, or show up at the monthly GSR district meeting the last Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at District 17 Office in Kingsford.

Discussion:

It was discussed that hotline personal should have at least two years of continuous sobriety.

Joanne B. asked if Steve S. was working on pricing for a new computer back-up battery pack. Cliff said he will talk to Steve about upgrade.  A motion was made and accepted that Steve S. could spend up to $100 on new backup battery.

Bruce L. furnished a sign up sheet for GSR’s to take to their home groups for interested parties to sign up.

Cliff W. (Webmaster) gave district office bldg master key to Bruce L. (DCM) as Cliff W. will be gone for awhile.

There is a need for someone to fill this position. Information regarding what this position entails can be found on AA.org.

DCM Report 6/28/2011

Went to June inter-group in Manistique and attended both the Corrections and the GSR meetings. In the corrections meeting the discussion centered around the need for someone to fill the U.P. Correction Chair for the next 2 years and the need for someone to take minutes at the meeting. At the GSR meeting the discussion centered on what area functions should be attended, discussion was mainly to do with the high cost of attending such meetings and conferences. The districts that attended their GSR meetings will be presenting the same topics we are discussing to their groups and districts. This discussion was started by District 18 DCM Roy.
