Webmaster/Coordinator Report 9/27/2011

On September 16 received no answer from the 0900 AA Hotline. At office discovered the district computer had been shut down due to serious error. The computer itself was on, but no one available to click on the start up box for security reasons. The last recorded in call was August 31st. I documented all the gibberish computer talk and the only thing I recognized was at the end was Product: 256_1. I filed an error report on the Internet that included a list of files. The error report reported back that report included corrupted files and was unable to read.

In further research, discovered that some hardware was causing the series error. The only added hardware to my recollection was the APC Power Chute backup battery and the HP printer, scanner, photo unit. Decided to delete all files of the HP unit and detach from computer and box the unit that really wasn’t working with this district computer, hoping that this hardware was causing the serious error.

I updated the district website, the option #9 of the 0900 AA Hotline, and uploaded and installed updates from Microsoft. Also, the APC backup battery informed that the battery is 3-years old, however, that it sustained power.

On Tuesday, September 27 on reporting to the district office discovered the district computer had shut down again to a serious error. The last in call to the AA hotline was 9-23-11. I will further research the problem. Updated at the district office and prepared for the monthly district GSR meeting.

The District 17 Office has _100_ meeting cards in drawer.

The 0900 AA Hotline _24_ hits, including _11_calls w/no option pressed.

The District website _167_hits the past month.

I stated at the meeting the need of a simple printer for the district office and not a complete photo, scanner, and printer unit.

And because of other commitments by both Carol & I, the task of reporting to C J Graphics was put off until October for a new batch of AA meeting cards.

Any member of the fellowship with sobriety can become a contact on the option #8 contact listing for a 3-month period. This listing should periodically be updated, especially for those who are about to take a 3-month turn with their listing on option #8. Email to:     dcm@district17a74.org

As a regular monthly reminder, must train people (female/male) the operation as coordinator of the 0900 AA Hotline and as webmaster of the district website. Carol H will be taking over for Cliff W and anyone interested in getting involved with being webmaster or coordinator for 0900 AA Hotline please contact a District 17 committee member, or show up at the monthly GSR district meeting the last Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at District 17 Office in Kingsford.

Report was read and motion made and accepted as presented.

DCM Report
Area 74 Elections held in Hudson, WI, Marty L. elected as new delegate for the area and Mary Jo R. Alt. /Area Chair. I went to Inter-group on the 17th and with Debbie, Karen and myself put in request for big books, daily reflections and service manuals with the U P correction chair before he leaves office. GSR meeting was very good in their discussion about the lack of people stepping up to be GSRs and District members. On the 27th went to Florence and delivered literature and meeting cards that was requested by Corrine Seamen with UW Cooperative Extension program for the incarcerated. 20 of each A Brief Guide to AA, AA in Your Community and is AA for You. (Total cost $11.Area said they do not supply such items). In the meeting Sheriff Rickaby gave a report stating that a male client released on intensive supervision maintains his sobriety to the attendance at AA ant the friendship of his sponsor. "It is clear without the aid of his AA sponsor it is less likely this person would have success".
Also he noted that there are 16 people at the facility and 5 are women and they are attending the new women’s meeting.
