Corrections Report 2/28/2012

Corrections report for the month of February.......month of February has been fairly quiet.  The women were not allowed in for a few weeks due to some trouble that the women inmates created and their privileges were taken away.  All seems to be back to normal now.  Katie is back on the schedule for the first Wednesday of the month, so the adjustments in the schedule have been made.  Val, who has been doing the meetings in Florence, has had some surgery, so she will not be going in for awhile.

Jill from Iron County contacted me and says that she goes weekly and everything is fine.  I will contact her if we get together but also encouraged her to come to the Corrections meeting at our Intergroup in April.  I will call to remind her.

There was a question on whether the men were having a weekly meeting at the jail--this question came from a mother of one of the inmates who told her he was not able to go because they did not have regular meetings.  I asked and cleared this with Dennis who said there were weekly meetings with Terry and Brad going until April and then Dennis and Mark would take over.  Dennis said he is available to fill in as well.  I will get back to this mother to inform her and she may be able to "encourage" her son to attend.  Bruce handed us some workbooks that will be distributed.

Respectfully submitted,

                                   Debbie G.

Bruce L. distributed the Correction Workbooks to the people that do the jail meetings

Gordy P. and James B. are still doing the Florence jail meeting.

Webmaster/Coordinator Report 2/28/2012

On Saturday, February 11 met with Ed to assist with the Belkin receiver to get on the Internet at the district office. Performed some organizing of district office, including cleanup, and found the disc for the Belkin receiver that helped to enable the device. Ed took the inoperative backup district office computer to repair to his workshop. Counted the district meeting cards and discovered that the office has 600 and not 1,600 meeting cards as reported at January district meeting. Updated option #9 info at 0900 AA Hotline and at home updated the website by adding new AA meeting, the Newsletter, and district officer page.

On Wednesday, February 15 obtained the ten digit code number downstairs at Community Substance Abuse business and activated the Belkin receiver to get onto the Internet. Also had been informed by Ed that the backup district computer was repaired and has added memory installed. Everything at district office is operative and working great.

On Saturday, February 25 at district office and made changes to the district website performing a new facelift and adding the Palmer Intergroup minutes. Carol H has needed information for making changes with the district website, the host website Hostek.com, and 0900 AA Hotline.

On Tuesday, February 28 at district office to perform updates for the monthly webmaster report and to open the conference room downstairs for the district 17 monthly GSR meeting.

DCM Report 2/28/2012

Went to Palmer Intergroup on the 4th and attend both the correction and GSR meetings. At the corrections meeting discussion centered on getting into prisons that don’t have meetings in them. Also talked about local jail meeting and their importance in the community to help spoil the drinking habits of those that attend the meetings. District 17 can be very proud in their actions and dedication to carrying the message. Picked up 5 (five) copies of the Corrections Workbook for our District. At the GSR meeting discussion was about the lack of funds at the Area level due to the paying of the Delegate and committee chairs being reimbursed for their attendance at 4 assemblies and 2 conferences. This will be discussed at the Area assemble.

Will be attending the Delegates workshop and Assemble on the 24th and 25th of March (will not be staying or night). Have received information on items to be discussed at the workshop and the assemble.

Old Business:

District 17 Service workshop: Talked with Masonic Temple and 1st Lutheran Church. Masonic was $225 and booked for June 2; the 1st Lutheran is a donation of $100 which is refundable if the hall is left clean (have reserved the hall for June 2nd). Talked with Debbie G. Who told me that Karen would be glad to be on the panel along with Area delegate Marty L.? This is tentative on the vote of the district.

E-mail Marty L about not receiving hard copy the Now & Then; was told by Dodie that it had been mailed. I have not received any.
