District 17 Newsletter

     The district monthly GSR meeting was held Tuesday April 24, 2012 at the district office, located at 373 Woodward Ave., Kingsford, MI.  The meeting was opened with a moment of silence followed by the Serenity Prayer.  In attendance were: Bruce L., Gordie P., John R, Darryl N. Liz L. Sandy, Betty S, Aaron H, Kathy M, Ed B, Cliff W.

Corrections Report 4/24/2012

Debbie and Dennis both had personal business so were not present. Dennis did e-mail Bruce that Terry has quit going to the Dickinson county jail meeting, but Brad is back. A motion was made by Bruce for the district to purchase 12 Living Sober books and 6 Reflections book for the 3 jail meeting. Motion was passed and books are on order.

Webmaster/Coordinator Report 4/24/2012

     On Monday, April 2 was at district office to update option #8 of the AA Hotline adding new call list phone numbers for the next quarterly period through June 2012.

     On Saturday, April 14 I turned over district office building master key for members of intergroup committee as the local Traveling Intergroup was held at Knights of Columbus Hall in Kingsford.  I received new flash drive from Ed B for $7.99 with receipt.

     On Monday, April 16 was at district office to perform updates to district website by adding district newsletter and intergroup minutes and making changes to option #9 information on AA Hotline.

     On Tuesday, April 24 at district office to perform monthly updates and open the downstairs conference room for the monthly district GSR meeting.  Ed B delivered a rebuilt 2nd computer to the district office and Ed and I will get together in near future to hook the computer on line and upload district software in preparation of use.

     The District 17 Office has _550_ meeting cards in drawer divided into stacks of 50 cards.

     The 0900 AA Hotline _55_hits, including _18_ calls w/no option pressed.  A couple of calls with option #8 were received from Phoenix House and Veterans Affairs.

     The District website _89_ hits the past month.

    Any member of the fellowship with sobriety can become a contact on the option #8 contact listing for a 3-month period.  This listing should periodically be updated, especially for those who are about to take a 3-month turn with their listing on option #8.   

     As a regular monthly reminder, must train people (female/male) the operation as coordinator of the 0900 AA Hotline and as webmaster of the district website.  Anyone interested in getting involved with being webmaster or coordinator for 0900 AA Hotline please contact a District 17 committee member, or show up at the monthly GSR district meeting the last Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at District 17 Office in Kingsford.

PI/CPC Report 4/24/2012

Still need someone to handle this position. Bruce received from the CPC Area chair a new workbook for CPC which can be reviewed about request.

DCM Report 4/24/2012

     No activity in the Area, so no report. Did have good attendance for the Iron Mtn. GSR meeting at the Intergroup on the 14th of April. With discussions on PI / CPC work in the districts.

Liz and Kathy volunteered to handle the making of sandwiches and soda for the Service Workshop on the 2nd of June at the Lutheran Church from noon till?

NEW BUSINESS 4/24/2012

Bruce was contacted by the VA in Iron Mtn. To sit and answer any question on what is AA.
This will be on the 16th of May with Cliff W. and Jennifer J. Doing the Al-Anon part. It was agreed that this was ok to do.

When anyone anywhere reaches out I want the hand of AA always to be there and for that I am responsible.
