Corrections Report 8/28/2012:

This is an update on who is going to the Florence jail and Iron Mountain Jail for the men.  Gordy and James are doing the meetings in Florence and Dennis, Brad and Mark are going to Iron Mountain.  They are looking for another man to volunteer………they would need 3 months sober to go to

Florence and 2 years is required for Iron Mountain.  Someone could start out in Florence for some experience and then go to Iron Mountain after they had two years in the program, And there is a need for men to go into the jail in Iron County (Crystal Falls). Call Dennis S. if interested.

James asked if the district can pay for him picking up a person with no transportation to attend the Florence Jail meeting. He was told that is against AA traditions to pay people to attend meetings.

Peter of Crystal Falls is going to see if he can start a men’s meeting in the Iron County Jail.

The women’s meetings are going fine and even with Karen leaving in October, there are still enough women to rotate meetings…….the schedule is complete until the end of October.  Val is still going to Florence and Jill to Iron County.  However, if anyone is interested in doing jail meetings, see Debbie G.  It is a good way to do service!

Debbie G. asked if books could be purchased for the jails and it was voted on and accepted…….6 Living Sober, 40 Sitting in a Cell pamphlets, 40 Is AA for you? Brochures, 5 small Big Books, and 10 soft cover Big Books will be ordered.

One of the girls that have been in jail has been attending meetings on a regular basis, which is a sign of how delivering the message can give people hope!

We continue to encourage inmates to get to a meeting the first day they get out of jail but to have meetings amongst themselves while in jail.  All we can do is deliver the message and pray that some good comes out of it.

         Respectfully submitted,

                                Debbie G.
