TOPIC: Monthly GSR Meeting (Newsletter)

LOCATION: Alano Club, Iron Mountain, Mi
As the whirling wind blew the much freshly
fallen snow outside, and the temps reaching as low as minus ten degrees
wind-chill, down in the basement of the Alano Club, located in the back
conference room, a group of people sat awaiting the start of the monthly GSR
meeting. All officers of District 17 were on hand to begin their second
year of their two-year term in office.
At 5:30 P.M. (CST) this meeting was called to order by the DCM Bill with
a moment of silence followed by the Serenity Prayer. Those in attendance were
Bill D., Arnie M., Eleanor F., Sharon W., Larry W., Bruce L., Charlie K., and
Cliff W.
It was announced that new elections of District officers would be
upcoming in October 2003.
The minutes of the previous meeting were submitted for review. One
correction was made. The Saturday night Big Book meeting at the New Hope Church
of God in Iron Mountain is located at the corner of Carpenter Avenue and ‘C’
street, not ‘A’ street. A motion then made to accept the minutes as corrected.
The financial report then submitted by District
treasurer Sharon for review. A motion was made to accept report as is and
passed.
The subject of signatures on account for District 17, it was agreed last
month that there would be three signatures on account. The DCM, Secretary, and
Treasurer would be the three officers. A bank card was signed by Sharon, Bill,
& Cliff.
It was reported that changes have to be made to update the 0900 # hotline
and the AA ad section printed in The Daily News. Charles K., agreed to have
corrections made for both this coming week.
Sharon reported that a P.O. Box for District 17 mailings, could be
available this coming month. Further notice will be reported at next month’s
meeting.
It was reported by Cliff that Melody B. had stated that she received
favorable notifications about the flyer placed in monthly Newsletter dated
12/28/02.
A motion was made and carried in ordering thirty copies of the Big Book
and twenty copies of the Twelve & Twelve to be distributed at Dickinson & Iron
County correctional centers. A check in the amount of $252.10 was given to DCM
Bill in ordering books through AA.
A motion was made and carried to present District 17 Treasurer Sharon,
$50 toward expenses on making ‘X’ # of copies of the financial statement and
flyers to be given to Secretary Cliff (to enclose in monthly Newsletter) for the
upcoming year 2003.
A discussion ensued on the upcoming Spring Conference to be held in
Kimberly, Wisconsin the first weekend in May. A motion was made and carried to
give DCM Bill $230 for expenses (lodging, travel, conference, & meal) on
attending the Conference.
It was reported by GSR, Arnie M. of the Sunday night Hermansville AA
Group, who could use some added support. Anyone needing information on this AA
Group can contact Arnie at (906) 497-4607.
It was reported by Sharon, chairperson of the upcoming Intergroup to be
held in Kingsford on Sat April 12th, that the 1st & 2nd organization meetings’
will be held at the Alano Club on Sat 2/1 and Sun 2/16, starting at 5:00 P.M.
(CST).
The next Intergroup is to be held in Palmer, Michigan on Sat 2/15/03.
This GSR meeting proceeded with a quick round table discussion on area AA
Groups.
The GSR meeting closed with Our Father at 6:30 P.M. (CST).
