District17 Newsletter

The District monthly GSR meeting was held on Tuesday, March 31^st, at the District 17 Central Office, located at 373 Woodward Ave. in Kingsford. The meeting opened with the Serenity Prayer. In attendance were Cliff W., Dennis S., Aaron H., James B., Bruce L., John R., Terry M., & Jen J.

Corrections Chair Report: (See page 2 submitted by Dennis S) Cliff received the following note from Laura K (Iron River): I have not been able to get to jail meetings due to other commitments, & I know that Jill is getting burned out, so we could use some other women to go to Iron County Jail meeting Monday night at 6:00 pm. If interested, contact Jill at 265-4787.

2009 Spring Conference: Spring Conference May 15^th - 17^th, 2009 Pine Mountain Resort, Iron Mountain. Conference planning meeting to be held Saturday, April 11^th, at The Knights of Columbus Hall, Iron Mountain at 11:30 AM. PLEASE TRY TO ATTEND. For more information, call Jennifer 906-396-2668. Remember this is an Area-wide function, & we need support from everyone!

2009 April Intergroup update: The District 17 Intergroup will be held Saturday, April 11^th, at K of C Hall in Kingsford.

0900 AA Hotline update: Hotline had 130 hits this past month … Wow! A woman’s voice should also be on the 0900 # & Cliff is willing to train them to do this.

District 17 Central Office Update: $41.69 for printer cartridge (black ink), paper, stapler, reimbursement for Cliff … … The Printer is working .

District 17 website update: The site recorded 155 total hits in the past month. Double wow!

District 17 Meeting Cards update: The new batch of updated cards is been put on hold. The Iron River Alano Club board will be having a meeting on April 10^th to determine the fate of the club. It could be closing due to financial difficulties. A Board member will email Cliff the result of that meeting which will determine what we do with our meeting cards. Bruce: As a district, what can we do to help the Iron River Alano Club meetings? Should we attend the board meeting on Friday? Probably not since the Club is not associated with AA. Cliff will contact their GSRs to find out the deal. Dennis brought up the animosity between Crystal Falls & Iron River … THAT seems to be a problem, too. Cliff mentioned that IM meetings are to doing just fine. Also our new cards should have the IM Alano Club phone number for information …Table decision on cards till next GSR meeting. The Early Bird meeting at the Alano Club has been around for a full year now & has added Wednesday 7:00AM … All are smoking meetings.

DCM report: District17 report will be given on Saturday April 4^th at the Area74 Spring Assembly in Three Lakes by our DCM. Cliff will be going with James. The Now & Then has not been putting our GSR meeting in the calendar. Cliff will talk to them & talk to people doing displays at the Spring Conference in May.

New Archives Chair: John R. from Iron River is the new archives chair for District 17. Cliff has presented him a key to the District Office.

Our district has no Public Information Committee Chair. James may be interested & will get information at the Area Assembly this weekend.
